Agriculture: Dairy Herd Management,  Reaseheath College
The Dairy Herd Management courses at Reasheath are based upon Cheshire’s position as the premier grass growing/dairy producing county.  Being home to the Genus MOET herd, Reaseheath has developed an enviable reputation as the lead provider in this specialist field.  Modules included on the course include; nutrition, milk supply and quality assurance, young stock rearing and farm business management. 

Agriculture: Mixed Farming,  Reaseheath College
Designed in consultation with local farmers, this programme allows for students to maintain their employment in the industry whilst adding to their knowledge, understanding and experience.  It will enable farmers to develop broader skills for less intensive, environmentally conscious farming practice.  The programme includes crop production, beef and sheep production, agricultural marketing and environmental management.

Both of these Agriculture courses are offered to accommodate the needs of the farming community and may be studied full or part-time.  Additional practical opportunities are offered one day per week for dairy tasks such as foot trimming, veterinary medicine and farm visits.

Animal Management,  University of Chester and Reaseheath College
This programme is designed for people working in animal care and welfare industries and provides the academic knowledge and its practical application to ensure that the needs of animals in captivity are understood and met.  There are three separate pathways, including Training and Counselling for people working with companion species and their owners, and Zoo Management for keepers of exotic animal collections.  The Behaviour and Welfare pathway is designed to meet the needs of employees in wider areas of the industry.

Countryside Conservation and Recreation Management,  Reaseheath College
This part-time course provides students with an opportunity to develop a wide range of knowledge and skills relevant to the management of the countryside for conservation and recreation.  Topics studied include: ecology, habitat management, visitor management, environmental education and interpretation

Equine Studies,  Reaseheath College
This course is available either full-time or part-time and has been designed to encompass both practical and theoretical subjects associated with the equine industry.  Students cover a number of subject areas including equine science, husbandry and business.  Depending on the mode of study there are a number of optional modules available in either equitation (riding and instructing) or additional equine science topics.

Food Chain Technology and Management*,  Reaseheath College
This part time course is specifically designed for those already working or wanting to start work in the food industry and will open the door do a number of career routes and opportunities. The Foundation Degree in Food Chain Technology and Management offers a choice of fi ve specialist pathways; Bread and Cereal, Dairy, Meat, Quality Assurance and Primary Production – Agriculture. The University of Chester undertakes international level research into food quality and safety and hosts the International Journal of Food Science & Technology, while Reaseheath is recognised as a Centre for Vocational Excellence in Food.

Food Industry with Management,  Reaseheath College
This course prepares students for a number of careers within the food industry including technology, management, processing, food safety and new product development.  The theory taught is backed up by the use of Reaseheath’s practical facilities which includes industrial scale processing halls and teaching laboratories.  Reaseheath’s food department is a Centre of Vocational Excellence in Food Chain Technology.

Garden and Landscape Design,  Reaseheath College
This course offers the opportunity for students interested in a career in Garden and Landscape Design to study for a professional qualification which encompasses the design, horticultural and business management skills required within this creative area of horticulture.  Among a number of practical elements, students are involved in the design and build of gardens and landscapes for major horticultural shows.

Golf and Sports Turf Management,  Reaseheath College
This course allows students to develop practical skills complemented by relevant theory in the thriving golf and sports turf industry.  Students make use of a number of practical facilities including Reaseheath’s nine-hole golf course (affiliated to the English Golf Union).  Students gain knowledge in both specific turf-related subjects, as well as the business and management elements associated with successful careers in this field.

Healthcare Sciences,  University of Chester
This is a part time programme aimed at National Health Service employees, or their equivalent, currently at the level of medical laboratory assistant.  Students learn skills in areas such as biological chemistry, genetics and work based specialisms.  The programme is consistent with the requirements of Skills for Health and the National Occupational Standards and provides an option of later progression onto BSc Honours programmes in Biomedical areas.
